LAGOS STATE SAFETY COMMISSION URGES STUDENTS TO BE SAFETY CONSCIOUS AS SCHOOLS RESUME.

As students across Lagos State resume for the new academic session after the long holiday, the Lagos State Safety Commission extends it's warm wishes for a fruitful and rewarding school year.

The Commission emphasizes the importance of safety consciousness both within and outside school environments. While academic excellence is paramount, personal safety, health and well-being remain the foundation for sustained success.

Speaking on the resumption, the Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola has reiterated that safety is a shared responsibility, according to him, "we encourage every student to be safety conscious, safety aware and never safety averse; from road use to classroom conduct, from laboratory practices to sporting activities, safety should be your constant companion".

The Commission advises students to:

Stay alert while commuting to and from school, avoid distractions such as mobile phones when crossing roads, 

Observe school safety rules, including fire drills, laboratory regulations and emergency procedures;

Maintain hygiene practices such as regular hand washing and proper waste disposal to prevent illnesses, 

Speak up by reporting unsafe practices, bullying or potential hazards to teachers or school authorities,

Take responsibility for personal belongings and avoid unsafe shortcuts or risky behaviors.

Parents, guardians and school administrators are also urged to reinforce safety awareness in students by creating secure learning environments and modeling safe behaviors.

The Lagos State Safety Commission remains committed to promoting culture of safety across all sectors, ensuring that students grow not only in knowledge but also in responsibility and resilience.

As the new term begins, let us all work together to make our schools and communities safer, healthier and more secure.
